Decorative Joinery

Handmade, Custom Made and Made to Order: Why you deserve all three

While most people choose furniture and accessories available commercially, some items are best suited when custom made. The frustration is more likely to become apparent when the desired piece of furniture isn't in the market or due to mass production is not alterable. An Interior Designer on the other hand can change your faith. Find yourself a suitable designer who can design the furniture of your dreams today, or in 10 years time.

The primary reason to look to custom work is to have furnishings that exactly fit the space or the purpose––tables with small drawers for tools and large flat drawers for paper and blotters; workbenches with a built-in light table or recessed nipping press; a sink with a heating jacket for gelatin sizing or enzyme treatments; moveable tables that can easily be butted together to accommodate oversized objects. Custom furnishings may be designed to break down for easy moving to a new location at a later date, or they may be built into a specific space.

Decorative joineries are trending at the moment. Where storage has long been the go-to solution for dressing awkward spaces, designs are heading in a more ornate direction that proves shelving and wardrobes are the ultimate spaces in which to sprinkle some design flair.
